Mantos helped Dunn change the position of his hands on the bat and now Dunn has 4 homers in four games, plus 2 stolen by great defense, and 2 doubles. He got Flowers to change his hands too at the same time and Flowers has gone 5-14 since then (.357).

There might be something to this Mantos guy.

I don’t care what anyone says, I miss Tom Paciorek in the booth. Don’t get me wrong, Steve Stone is simply the best analyst in the game, and I enjoy his presence in the booth, but Paciorek always brought a certain fun goofiness to the broadcast I always found entertaining

Robin Ventura’s 100th career victory as a manager will have to wait until at least Saturday night following the Angels’ 7-5 victory over the White Sox before 22,638 at U.S. Cellular Field in Friday’s series opener.

But if the White Sox defense doesn’t improve soon, Ventura might not have significant additions to that win total as the 2013 campaign progresses.

The White Sox (14-19) committed two more errors in Friday’s setback, giving them 24 on the season. And it was a Conor Gillaspie fielding gaffe to open the seventh that started the Angels (13-22) on their way to a second straight road victory.

That no-decision made Harvey the first pitcher since Pittsburgh’s Francisco Cordova on July 12, 1997, to go nine shutout innings or more, allow one hit or less, strike out 10 or more and receive a no-decision. The right-hander looked even better than his 4-0 record and 1.56 ERA would indicate.

White Sox catcher Tyler Flowers had himself quite a game during a 3-1 victory over Texas on Thursday night before 31,199 at Rangers Ballpark.

Flowers launched the game-winning three-run homer in the sixth. He did an exceptional job handling Hector Santiago’s first 2013 start, and before the White Sox first road series victory of the campaign, Flowers even caught a wayward dog in the visitors’ dugout that had escaped from the ballpark’s pregame “Bark at the Park” festivities.

“It was definitely a good day,” said Flowers, who has put the White Sox in front with each of his four homers.
