I expect the refs to come out swinging tonight and you will see their best effort to contain the Bulls. I’m sure Stern berated them after the last game and let them and let them know that jobs are on the line and changes need to be made.

Expect Noah to have 2 fouls before the end of the first quarter (if not the first 5 minutes) and 5 fouls going into the 4th quarter, with Butler right behind him. No 48 minutes for Jimmy tonight as he will foul out before then, or spend time on the bench to avoid fouling out.

I also expect Miami to play better.

Tipoff is a few minutes away. Here’re two things to look or listen for. 1. If the shots aren’t falling, especially if they’re short, the legs are tired. 2. If Miami is getting a lot of open looks, again, the legs are gone. If either happens, it’s the off-season for the Bulls.

Joakim Noah named to NBA All-Defensive First Team.

After finishing fourth in Defensive Player of the Year voting, Joakim Noah was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team on Monday. Noah and Tyson Chandler both made it onto the First Team at the center position by virtue of a tie.

This could be characterized as somewhat of a surprise considering the fact that Marc Gasol earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. But there are different voters for that award (media) and the All-Defensive Teams (coaches), which help explains why something like this happens. Gasol was named to the All-Defensive Second Team.

Let me start by saying I’m a Noah fan and recently posted a survey on “Did he do better than we thought he would on his draft day”. The results of that were a unanimous yes. My current thought since listening to interviews during the play offs and the whole Rose debacle is, Who on draft day would have thought that he could become the team leader, diplomat and voice of reason for the bulls locker room?
