With Bears coach Lovie Smith sitting in the front row, the Bulls did their best Cover-2 imitation Saturday night at the United Center.

And, yes, that meant three Mavericks were open most of the game.

Perhaps it only seemed that way as the Mavericks cruised to their 11th straight victory by downing the suddenly-reeling Bulls 122-116.

But in falling to their fourth straight loss on a night their playoff-race partners all won, the Bulls allowed an opponent season-high-tying point amount, an opponent season-high 49 field goals and robust 56.3 percent shooting.

The Bulls also routinely botched rotations — leaving Shawn Marion wide-open for layups several times — and failed to limit penetration in one of their worst defensive performances of the season.

Kinda surprised that our diehard Bulls fans have not been posting updated threads here.

Or maybe they really are not fans in the firs place. Just Clown defenders.

Congress Needs to Regulate NASCAR

Okay, I am the first to admit that watching a bunch of adults perfect a left turn is not my favorite way to spend an afternoon. And, I will even admit that I think that the idea of promoting crashes at 200 mph is dumb. But, I am baffled as to how Congress needs to get involved. I would think one call from the insurance agency that covers the sport should solve it. But, in F***tard-land (still the world’s worst amusement park), I would be wrong.

The line is when Keselowski—and/or Edwards—doesn’t climb to safety because he’s protected by one of those smugly-named Cars of Tomorrow. Have at it? I’ll tell you who should have at it.

Congress. The NASCAR loyalists will laugh, but if Capitol Hill was so inclined to take control and apply pressure when MLB wasn’t addressing the steroids crisis, it’s even more urgent for Congress to intervene when lives are at stake and so few in the sport appear to realize it. Time was when NASCAR punished drivers for silly transgressions, such as when Dale Earnhardt Jr. swore on TV. But with America’s economic downturn came dramatic decreases in ratings and attendance, which prompted NASCAR to encourage and promote rivalries between drivers. Nothing is wrong with a good, strong grudge—but not at the expense of common-sense safety in a dangerous sport.

Chris Richards needs to earn his contract and lay a shot on Howard tonight. Just cause.

Asked Wednesday if it’s conceivable with their current personnel for the Bulls to play the style they need to to have success — defend, rebound, run — the coach didn’t hesitate.

“No, not right now,” Del Negro said. “So we’re going to have to junk the game up as best we can. Maybe we can get a couple of guys with a hot hand or change up some defensive coverages.

“One of the reasons we became a better defensive team throughout the year when we were healthy is we had a nice foundation to what we were doing and there was accountability. Now with the lack of bodies, we’re not controlling the paint.

“We’ve had to make adjustments. We have gotten slow on rotations. We have gotten away from what helped us win because of the injuries.”

That injury situation worsened Wednesday with the news that an MRI revealed Luol Deng suffered a Grade 1 or 2 strain of his right calf muscle, Brad Miller hurt his left thumb and Taj Gibson may miss Thursday’s game in Orlando with plantar fasciitis.
