Rolando McClain is retiring at the venerable age of 23. No, that’s not a typo. He is doing so after recently signing a one year deal with the Ravens and getting busted for his 3rd felony in Decatur Alabama. Also calling a career after signing a contract is David Garrard on the Jets. He’s 35 and hasn’t played since 2010 due to injuries. Just FYI, the same GM who signed him signed Tebow, so, there really were worse options out there.

Fun facts, Decatur Alabama is the home of Delinquent Records and Garrard is a descendant of Edward the Confessor.

Walter Payton’s mom died at 87.

Long before her famous son, Walter Payton, became known to millions as “Sweetness,” Alyne Payton was known as the original version.

“Just like every mother, she was proud of her kids, regardless of what they are doing or what they become,” her son Eddie Payton said. “The love that she had is the kind of love that we will never know.”

Mrs. Payton, 87, died Monday, May 6, in Jackson, Miss., after an extended illness.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE not Manti Te’o. I have nothing against the guy, I don’t care about his fake dead gf or being from Notre Dame. I just think his ceiling is a solid, 3-down LB but I can’t see him ever being a Pro Bowler or anything like that. Not fast or athletic or talented enough. Good chance IMO that he’s only a 2-down player due to his lack of speed.

Would love o-line but I’m guessing there’s going to be an early run and nobody good will be remaining when the Bears pick. No chance at future Hall of Fame OG Jonathan Cooper or future Pro Bowler Chance Warmack. Bears don’t have the assets to trade up. Why take an OT? I think Webb will be just fine at RT—above average, even.

I think the best bet is to trade down. Actually, it’s almost always the best bet. The % chances of a 2nd or 3rd round succeeding are almost as good as that of a first-rounder. More players is better, especially for a team with only 5 picks.

If they can’t trade down, there’s a possibility they can take the 2nd CB off the board, a heck of a value at 20.
