Matt Thorton looked absolutely phenomenal last night. He had the radar gun blinking 98mph on a couple of nasty fastballs. I actually began to think to myself that if the Bobby Jenks era does end anytime soon(not that I think it is) we would be alright. He has been pretty good all year and is attacking every hitter at the dish with a ferocity he used to lack. He struck out the side in the ninth but not before the Dirty Thirty took him yard to tie the game. I hope his memory is short and he continues to pitch like a monster because he can be good for a long time to come.

I agree, Thornton could be a closer.  He doesn’t seem fazed by the 9th inning whereas Linebrink seems to always wet his pants in the 9th.  Closing isn’t for everyone.

Slightly off topic, did anyone catch the look on the 2nd baseman’s face when AJ broke up that double play? I thought he was going to wet himself.

White Sox showed me some fight yesterday. It would have been easy to give up after the Swisher homer but the White Sox came right back and won the game. The White Sox are in a stretch playing some tough teams but if they play like they did last night they have nothing to worry about.

I sign every autograph I can for kids because I remember myself at that age. I think it’s ridiculous that some guys won’t sign for a kid.

Now they have Peavy.

Glad that they got Peavy but hate to see Poreda and Richard go to the Padres. Seems like Adam Russell has been up with White Sox before. The other pitcher Dexter Carter is 6-2 with a 3.13 ERA and an amazing 143 strikeouts in 118 innings down in A ball.

Just checked on Russell and he had a 4-0 record with White Sox in 2008 and is 2-2 3.09 ERA with Charlotte this season.

IMHO the White Sox gave up too much to get Peavy.
