While I think Orton is solid for Denver’s system , I think Cutler will be much better for ours.

BTW it is time for some goddamn football smile

I’ve never been totally sold on Cutler. I think Sunday’s game will answer a lot of questions.

Here’s one: Was Cutler’s success at Denver due to his ability or the system?

Conversely: Was Orton hindered by the Bears’ system?

The system’s are totally different now in Denver.
Last year under Shanahan the Broncos ran a West Coast offense kind of similar to what the Bears run but a lot more pass happy than Chicago’s. This year with McDaniels in charge the Broncos are running more of a spread offense with lots of four to five receiver sets.
I think this is more of a test to see if McDaniels’s claim that his offense is very quarterback friendly to run is true or not. After all he did get a 6th round QB(Tom Brady) and a 7th round QB ( Matt Cassel) rich contracts by playing in his system.

I think Cutler will be solid - the guy has the physical tools and Turner is a very good offensive coordinator.  I think Turner will make Cutler look very good and it wouldn’t surprise me to see Olsen catch 80 passes this year.

Orton is reliable, but I wonder if he will be a good fit with Denver’s system.  He is a smart player, so he should be able to progress through his options rapidly, but does he have the arm strength and accuracy to make the throws?  I think Denver sees Orton as a stop-gap measure - it wouldn’t surprise me to see them win 4 or less games this year and draft a QB next year.

I think Orton is a stop gap measure too in a way. The QB draft class next year is going to be very strong with Tim Tebow, Colt McCoy, Sam Bradford, and Jevan Snead expected to enter. All are first round talents but the problem is that the Broncos traded away their first round pick in 2010 for a 2009 second rounder and if the Bears make the playoffs it might be hard for the broncos to get one of those top four QBs.

Not sold on Tim Tebow.

Great college QB. Not sure about pro potential.

Big year for him.

Yeah, not sold on Tebow either.  I hear most people say he is going to be a H back or a tight end in the league.  I really dont think he has the ability to play QB in THe NFL.

I think Tebow can play QB in the NFL, he just needs to fix his release (which is more easier said than done) and work on his reads and footwork. If he fixes his release, and according to some reports he made it a lot quicker over the spring, he is a first rounder for sure.

I could be wrong, but Tebow looks to me like the 2nd coming Kordell Stewart.

Tebow is more of a power runner and a far more accomplished college QB than Stewart.

I dont know if I would go that far.  He has a slow release and ffor what its worth to me, is far from accurate. At least he is far from NFL accuracte.  He is able to get the ball in the vicinity and in college, when you have significantly better talent, but in the pros you ahve to be able to get the ball into a window and I am not sure that he will ever be able to do that.  I am not saying he wont be a good pro.  He has the talent to be one, just not at QB I think.
