Another great post Bill and I agree that the White Sox can’t be labeled underachievers. Ramirez has done fine in his second season and Beckham can only get better next season. Center field has been a problem all year but at least Podsednik can hit better than the others out there like the now departed Brian Anderson and Dewayne Wise who has never hit well or got on base much in his career. The highlight of his career may be him saving the perfect game for Mark Buehrle.

Granted Buehrle has not pitched that well since the perfect game but several of those games were winnable. One game he pitched 8 scoreless innings and didn’t even get the decision. He probably should have 15 or 16 wins with better run support and a better bullpen.

The Seahawks are second in pass defense among 32 NFL teams so it will be a test for Cutler to have a good game against them. They are 26th in run defense so Forte may get 100 yards.

Contreras and Colon combined for 10 losses that probably should have been wins. Plus, as you noted, Buehrle really suffered with the team on the field after the perfect game. Well, they were picked for last, they did a little better than that. As has been noted, rebuilding a team on the fly, which is what they did this year, is seldom a recipe for success. I guess you could color me disappointed but not terribly surprised.

You should leave the disappointment to us professionals.

To tell you the truth I was shocked when some predicted the White Sox would finish last. Since they are 9 games back of the Tigers the two C’s combined for enough losses to lose the division by themselves. Beckham and Nix had excellent rookie years with Getz not doing quite so well.

The comebacker hitting Peavy during rehab probably kept the White Sox from winning a few more games. Then who could figure Dye would struggle until last night in the second half? Rios was a major disappointment. I thought the change of scenery would do him good but he may be Kenny Williams’ Bradley in terms of being tied down to a huge contract.

Might have been smart to keep Thome around till end of the season. He is used to playing high pressure games during a pennant race and might have come up with some walkoff hits.

The Seahawks pass D has faced the Rams and Niners, not exactly offensive powerhouses. In fact, the Rams and Niners are ranked 31 and 30th respectively in passing offense.
