Contreras and Colon combined for 10 losses that probably should have been wins. Plus, as you noted, Buehrle really suffered with the team on the field after the perfect game. Well, they were picked for last, they did a little better than that. As has been noted, rebuilding a team on the fly, which is what they did this year, is seldom a recipe for success. I guess you could color me disappointed but not terribly surprised.
To tell you the truth I was shocked when some predicted the White Sox would finish last. Since they are 9 games back of the Tigers the two C’s combined for enough losses to lose the division by themselves. Beckham and Nix had excellent rookie years with Getz not doing quite so well.
The comebacker hitting Peavy during rehab probably kept the White Sox from winning a few more games. Then who could figure Dye would struggle until last night in the second half? Rios was a major disappointment. I thought the change of scenery would do him good but he may be Kenny Williams’ Bradley in terms of being tied down to a huge contract.
