I would’ve been disappointed had they given up one of the kids that have become the nucleus of the team. (I pissed about the Elton Brand trade, but that was Kraus). The need, inside scoring presence, is pretty hard to fill and no one is going to give away that type of player. Standing pat was OK.
The Bulls are what they are. Young and gritty. With Wade going down that leaves the Pistons in front of them. Will they get schooled by the west if they win the east. Oh yeah. But would we rather have 2 teams in championship games and lose than to not have gotten there at all?
Unfortunate Marriottiism coming, “Chicago has always been known as the Second City.”
I’ve made a resolution to post more, both on the site and the board. I’m with you guys on standing pat ... it didn’t make sense to sacrifice cap flexibility to add a washed up guy like Abdur Rahim. It’s not like he’s going to be the guy who makes a difference in winning a title. Plus, the Bulls are still in a great position to make a big splash when the timing is right. I still think Garnett can be had at some point, maybe this offseason.
What we really need is for the Knicks to tank. Don’t we get their first rounder this year? Our pick and their pick to the T’wolves for Garnett. Not sure about the cap implications there though.
Escalating salaries and complicated contracts combined with more sophisticated collective bargaining agreements have ruined the fun of the “blockbuster” trade on the deadline in just about every sport.
Hell, when was the last time there was a significant trade in the NFL?
After having just watched the Bulls, quite easily, dispatch the Wizards, I’ve gotta say that I liked what I saw. They play the game right and they’re getting better.
As I recall Skiles walks into Reinsdorf’s office, reads him the riot act, Reinsdorf’s intimidated and gives him the contract he wants...in F***tard Fantasy Land. And typically, F***tard never apologized for being wrong or even remotely acknowledged it. I just think that the Sun-Times doesn’t get it.
Not according to Mike North. It was North himself that got the 2 together. Just ask Mike. He will tell you.
Well, don’t forget that I was repeating F***tard’s Fantasy. Then again I can’t get WMVP (and don’t metion streaming audio). BTW, however, about how long has it been ESPN radio (1000 AM)? Used to be WCFL.

Courage and conviction
Good one!
Isn’t using the word “courage” in the same sentence with F***tard an oxymoronism?
