IMO the expectations of this squad are highly unfair. Fans (along with management) need to decide what this season is really about in the first place:
Option A. A realistic .500 better (or worse as I predicted 38 wins) squad that probably will get bounced in the first round. However, a valuable sophomore season experience for Derrick Rose.
Option B. An unrealistic expectation (47-50 wins) of this team (regardless of injury) with further hyperbolic beliefs of advancing beyond the first round.
Option C. A total tanking of this season and gearing up for a major free agent signing (LeBron - no chance, Wade - maybe but the guy has more miles on the body than the age indicates, Bosh - more than probability). If so, wave the white flag. Deactivate The Clown for the rest of the season (hurts his trade value playing him hurt). Rest Rose before he tears out a ligament. Same with Deng.
Further considerations:
A. Is VDN sticking around or not? And why? Is this guy that is really going to develop Derrick Rose or attract Wade/Bosh to sign with the team?
B. Is Gar Forman really the GM that is going to assemble the pieces together for a run at a championship? And if that is not the goal (see Blackhawks) then a turnover in management should be immediate.
C. Last not but least, a viable Center (yes folks) is needed. Brad Miller cannot be expected to do yeoman’s work night in and night out without help.
Time for the Bulls AND their fans (with and without *) to make up their minds about this season once and for all.
