A very strange NFL season.

Opposing teams playdown their abilities to the lowest competing denominator on the field and then engage in an error prone slopfest.

Parity. Yeah. Sigh.

The MVP yesterday was Soldier Field’s turf. Not exactly sure how that field is legal but hey… whatever, a win is a win and the Bears definitely were the better playing team yesterday.

I’ll concede is the Bears are lucky..very lucky. Lucky to have had a pretty soft schedule so far that allowed them to be 7-3 going into this game against the Eagles.
Let idiots like Haugh think this team is good enough to go the Super Bowl.

And I’ll concede they’re likely going earn a spot in the playoffs. But I still say they’re one and done.

Let idiots like Haugh think the offensive line is no longer a problem because Cutler’s suddenly a smart QB. He didn’t look so smart getting that unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for thowing a temper tantrum like a spoiled 5 year year old. And that o-line still allowed Cutler to get sacked 4 times

The odds that Good Jay will show up again next week are still 50-50. Lucky for them they’re playing Detroit.

I’ll agree that they’re lucky, but they still had to win those games. It will shock no one to find out that I’m still not 100% sold on this team, but given the parity in the NFL, they stand as good a chance as anyone if they make the playoffs. Outside of the AFC, nothing really scares me.

Great post Bill recapping the big win by the Bears over the Eagles. Cutler increased his QB rating by 82 points over last week. If Cutler and Matt Forte keep playing the way they are and the defense doing their job the Bears can beat the Patriots. Playing the Lions next week should give the Bears a 9-3 record going into the game with the Patriots the following week.

The Bears are 4-0 in their division. They play their division 4 more times. Since their division sucks you can easily see 3 more wins out of those games. If they beat the Pats they can go 12-4 without stress. That would get them a first round bye. After that, who knows?

The NFC North has only 4 teams.  The Bears are 3-0 and play their division 3 more times.  I do think they can beat the Vikings and Lions in their respective homes which should get them to 10 wins right there.  Then they play the Packers, Jets and Patriots so it might stop at 10 wins.  I think the Packers will stomp them but if they can beat either the Jets or Patriots, they can get to 11 wins which might be enough for a bye.

I don’t see a great Bears team but they’re good.  The defense is really, really good and in this crazy NFL season, that might be enough to get you to the playoffs.  I don’t see a great team in the NFC.  As for the luck talk, whatever.  The Saints had an awful lot of luck go their way last year but we’re not about to take the Superbowl away from them.

The important thing is, they’re improving as the season goes on.  The team we saw yesterday was heads and shoulders better than the team we saw the first month of the season.

Sorry, I keep counting the Cowboys as a division opponent. They’re so bad they fit right in. But, yeah, they are getting better as they go.

I have to agree that the game wasn’t anywhere near as close as the final score indicated. I really don’t mind those final 10 points by the Eagles. They came in the last five minutes of the game, and, at that point, the game was effectively over.

In many cases it’s smarter to let a team score in those situations so they have to give the ball back.

I just read a couple of articles over at ESPN. For all the praise, there was still a tinge of doubt. We shall see what we shall see.

Peggy Kusinski from NBC has an interesting look at this year’s Bears.

...asked by NBCChicago’s Peggy Kusinski if this would make the NFL community respect them.

Urlacher’s reply: “I don’t give a (bleep), Peggy, to tell you the truth.”

It’s on.

The Bears are improving no doubt about that- and I’ll even write that they are playing like a football team- but I’m also with Big Tits on this as it appears like every opponent they face plays down to them- that was hardly a great showing by the eagles… I’m safe to write that I think EVERY TEAM in the NFL this year has played poorly and below expectations EXCEPT the Bears… (and Dallas but who gives a flying fuck about those Texas redneck douchebaggin’ fuckknobs)…

I will say this though- it appears now that there is NO reason why the Bears can’t make the super bowl- hell I can’t argue right now on anyone saying that this team is BETTER than the 06-07 team. Stranger things have happened…

But I got a weird feeling about them playing Detroit- this is right where the Bears fuck up a little..... I say Detroit takes them

PS- I like Urlachers quote- especially since he’s on D- only reason bears are where they are at and I’d be pretty frustrated being him this year… he should go fuck a stripper

The bears have five games left with three of them on the road against division opponents.  The host the Patriots and Jets, they go to Detroit, Minnesota and Green Bay.  Anyone think they can go better than 2-3 down the stretch?

I think they beat the kittys and queens and lose the others, although Green Bay is a maybe for me.  If the game were not in Green Bay I’d say it’s a win, but taking the packers down on their home field is a tough task.

If the Bears play like they did Sunday they are capable of beating everyone except the Patriots and with it being a home game they might even that game.
