They tied the record set by John Wooden at UCLA Sunday night. Tuesday, they face 14th-ranked Florida State to break the Division I record.
I know that men and women’s athletics are at times an apples-to-oranges comparison, to say nothing of the eras in which the Bruins and Huskies played. But which streak impresses you more? UCLA or UConn?
For me, I give a slight edge to UConn. Having never watched UCLA during their streak or really knowing what the college basketball competition was like at that time, I can’t really take that into consideration. But I do know that college athletics in general have changed a great deal since UCLA’s streak. And while the women at UConn likely won’t get as much money as their male counterparts should they go pro, there’s still a few that could go pro. UConn has defeated more top 10 teams during their streak. I think they’ve also had a wider average margin of victory.
Thoughts?

I don’t care if it is Rock, Paper, Scissors, 88 in a row of anything is impressive.

UConn’s women have put together a damn impressive streak. Are UConn’s players better than the rest? Is their coach better? I don’t know anything about women’s bb to know.

Unless it has something to do with the Cubs World Series drought…

No, that’s impressive as well, just in a different way.

Impressive no matter how you look at it .
Congratulations to Maya Moore and the UCONN Women’s Basketball team. UCONN set a new college basketball record of 89 straight wins. In other words, the University of Connecticut hasn’t lost since the 2008 Presidential Race.
UCONN star Maya Moore was hot, scoring 41 points, and dominating play against Florida State, with the team winning 93 to 62.

How come you never hear about recruiting violations in NCAA Woman’s Sports?

In a way, it would be kind of awesome to hear if women’s sports had the same shenanigans.

As for lack of recruiting violations, I’m guessing that’s because there’s less overall money involved.
