One thing I do have to give Rickett’s credit for is building that state of he art facility in the Dominican Republic. It won’t be done this year, but it will give the Cubs the most complete facility there and allow the players to develop in a much better environment than the Trib provided. As you remember, that was sleeping 3 to a cot and bathing optional. Now they’ll be treated like human beings.
Did Cap’n threaten to relocate the training facility to Cuba to leverage the DR Government?

Maybe Chicago is simply not a large market baseball town? After all, there are the two franchises. And face it, the NY Yankees would not spend one dollar less if there were zero or five other local MLB brands in their own backyards.
