Two guys named John, some light-bulbs and a catchy song became musical giants. Why can’t the Cubs, Mets and Dodgers follow suit in baseball?

One thing I do have to give Rickett’s credit for is building that state of he art facility in the Dominican Republic. It won’t be done this year, but it will give the Cubs the most complete facility there and allow the players to develop in a much better environment than the Trib provided. As you remember, that was sleeping 3 to a cot and bathing optional. Now they’ll be treated like human beings.

Did Cap’n threaten to relocate the training facility to Cuba to leverage the DR Government?

As per the front page post, kudos as usual.

Maybe Chicago is simply not a large market baseball town? After all, there are the two franchises. And face it, the NY Yankees would not spend one dollar less if there were zero or five other local MLB brands in their own backyards.

I can’t feel too sorry for the Mets since they should know an 18 percent return on the money they were supposedly making from Madoff’s hedge fund was unrealistic and weren’t smart enough to figure out what was really going on.

They weren’t expecting Jason Bay to hit 6 home runs and drive in 47 runs while slugging .402 for his $8.6 salary in 2010. His salary jumps to $16 million a season for the next three years. Unless he returns to being the player he has been in the past he will probably be paid $3 million in 2014 to leave the team instead of the $17 million salary. Nobody can tell me that Jason Bay earning $16 million this season is better than Paul Konerko earning $12 million.

I sign every autograph I can for kids because I remember myself at that age. I think it’s ridiculous that some guys won’t sign for a kid.
