There were some unusual sights Friday night at the United Center: Five technical fouls on players, a Chicago-born Memphis Grizzly taunting the crowd and Derrick Rose missing nine of his first 10 shots.
Then came the usual: A 99-96 Bulls victory — their 14th consecutive at the United Center — and a sensational late-game play from Rose.
The Bulls’ point guard slammed into 7-foot-1, 265-pound Marc Gasol but still made the lefty layup for a three-point play that gave his team a five-point lead with 10.8 seconds to play.
“I was trying to get contact, and I did,” Rose said. “People play me to my left hand (but) I’m pretty good going left.”
