Quade’s losing control of his team if even Dempster’s challenging his authority. Honestly, I can’t see how Hendry & Quade make it into next season. I don’t think even the Dodgers are as dysfunctional as the Cubs.
My buddy, the pro scout, says the Cubs are the number one punchline at any meetings he attends. He tells the story of a 16 year old kid he was scouting. After the game the kid approached him and said he’d heard my buddy was from Chicago. My buddy said he was but that he worked for _______. The kid smiled at him and said “Oh, thank God, I was worried you were from the Cubs.”
He pointed out this kid lived in a ghetto and had no legitimate prospects outside of baseball or a career at WalMart, although his grades were good, and would have still balked at getting paid to be a Cub.
Just FYI, for those of you who were excited about the Cubs draft picks this year, please be advised that they’ve only signed 1 out of their top 20 picks. That one is Rafael Lopez, a 24 year old catcher. By comparison the Sox have signed 16 of their top 20. The latter is about the MLB average.
On the other hand the Cubs have signed many of their lower round draft picks, including Scott Weissman, a 21 year old who will be used as a left handed pitcher. Click the Cubs link above and scroll to the bottom to see his listing. The problem is that Weissman is a righty.
I still think Big Donkey needs a sloppy hooker and a night of cheap tequila and he’ll be fine. Anyway, I was flipping through some of the Facebook re-posts of my article and ran across this comment.
Dont count the cubs out yet. They might b 11 games back but they still have the 2nd half to play.
There’s no rational reply I can give to that so I just ignored it.
And get who? It isn’t like high quality managers were lining up for that job when he was hired. Now that they see what a train wreck they’ll inherit I doubt that any will now. Let’s face it, Jesus Christ incarnate couldn’t turn that water into wine.

A$$-Top never had control of the team. He was specifically endorsed by the players because he commanded zero respect. And it shows.

That’s not the point.
A$$-Top never should have been hired in the first place. He is overmatched, underexperienced and just plain wrong for the job.
Same goes with Tennille and Butter.
An entire house cleaning is in order. Dumping all 3 can only be an improvement. Every day they are retained is a day wasted toward properly rebuilding the team.
