Question - If Quitler is the present and future of the Chicago Bears, the greatest QB to roll into this town since Sid, and the centerpiece, why the hell has Jerry Angelo not provide him a decent offensive line along with actual credible wide receivers?

Thanks.

The people around here have been asking me “How do you win a game committing 4 errors and have 18 strike outs?” Of course, these are Braves fans.

BTW, people you absolutely have to read Bill’s post today at Nude Hippo. Especially if you’re in or going to Southern California. You may be carrying something that could get you detained.

Brent Lillibridge did an excellent job of filling in for Adam Dunn.

Lillibridge has only one less homer than Dunn with 10 to 11 for Dunn. However it took Dunn 341 at bats to hit 11, while it took Lillibridge 150 at bats to hit 10.

Same goes for Lillibridge compared to Alexei Ramirez. Ramirez has 12 in 448 at bats while he has batted 298 times more than Lillibridge who hit 11 in 150 at bats.

Lillibridge is outslugging Dunn .500 to .296 and has a higher OPS than Dunn at .841 to .590 for Dunn.

Lillibridge does have a negative stat, having struck out 46 times in 150 at bats.

Lillibridge is hitting a home run every 15 at bats while Dunn is hitting one every 31 at bats.

One bright spot is that Dunn is outslugging Omar Vizquel .296 to .291. Bad thing is that Vizquel has the worst slugging percentage on the team.

Lillibridge deserves to be in the lineup every day. I know, I know, I’ve heard all the “he’s not an every day player, blah, blah, blah” bullshit. He’s earned the right to prove if he can play every day. And right now. he’s way more productive than Adam Dunn.

Even if Lillibridge plays for Dunn 3 out of 4 games it would have to help the offense. Dunn is dead in the water this season. With only about 40 games left, it is time to sit him the rest of the season and hope he can do better next season. At least they did finally move him down in the lineup. I don’t know how many rallies Dunn ended batting cleanup, not to mention the 3 for 78 season against lefthanders. A pitcher could hit better than that if they were allowed to bat in the AL.
