Philip Humber was bleeding all over the mound yesterday and Ventura left him in the game.
After the first hitter, Humber was bothered by the cut, caused by his forefinger nail scratching his skin while throwing changeups, which he blamed on the dry weather. Time was called while the bleeding was stopped.
“I was bleeding all over the place,” Humber said. “I let it distract me. I was getting blood on the ball, and it slipped out of my hand.”
