I don’t know what the Blackhawks could get in trade for Patrick Kane, but they have to find out.
I’m not saying they must trade their star forward just to trade him. I’m not saying they have to take a bad deal. This is not the Cubs’ eating Carlos Zambrano’s salary just to get rid of that nutbag.
Trading Kane is fixing the sink because you have a leaky roof. Though I do agree with Rosenbloom—it’s worth finding out what you could get for him. I’d trade anyone, it just depends on what you get in return.
The Hawks are run by John McDonough (remember the 2 decades with the Cubs) he has final say on everything the Hawks do.
McDonough is a Marketing guy and is all about the brand. Toews & Kane are the brand thats how McDonough set it up.
McDonough cares about the seats being filled at the UC, how much merchandice they sell, TV and Radio contracts, they’ve had over 200 consecutive sellouts at the UC and I think there ranked
2nd in merchandice sold in the NHL.
Nitwit brings up Stamkos, he of the 60 goals this season. Nitwit failed to mention no other NHL player came within 20 goals of Stamkos and Tampa Bay didn’t make the playoffs.
John Jaeckel puts the possibility of the ‘Hawks trading Kane this summer at 50-50 with this quote the most telling:
Without going into a lot of the hearsay, I’m told the Hawks have reached a point with Kane where they feel he needs to take some concrete steps to mature and become a better person off, and indirectly on, the ice. I am also hearing that thus far, the Hawks are less than thrilled with Kane’s attitude toward this matter. And if that continues, he will likely be traded.
That comes from this blog but many of Jackel’s offseason blogs include something about Kane.

see again I don’t give a shit about what he does off the ice- not a factor for me at all on why I want him traded- it’s only because for the MONEY he is getting PAID with a HARD salary CAP in the NHL he needs to go IF the hawks can still 2 reasonable players out of it- has to one D and one center- they have to move fast BEFORE Kanes value con’t to go down- because of the ON and OFF behaviors..... because as pointed out above people in the NHL and the Blackhawks organization DO care… and if Kane con’ts to NOT understand that it DOES matter they have a huge problem with him.....
Every day Kane’s value goes down… end of story- debate that if you any of you want
