I believe that John Paxson has been getting a break that we wouldn’t afford other GM’s...this isn’t my origina take, Bernstein and a fill-in discussed this yesterday, and the question that remains is why???

Pax took over a dead franchise and made it into something people are proud of. The reason Kobe was interested in chicago at all was due to this fact. The Bulls are not doormats any more and people realize that. However, now that F***tard has started bashing him adn saying the honeymoon is over, others will join the rant.

I think Pax has gotten a pass because of the mess that he inherited from Jerry Kraus.  He managed to make turn the dreck that Kraus had accumulated, through clever trades and astute drafting, into a talented and deep team that is competative year in and year out.  From the abyss that he was handed, where we are now seemed like an incredable achievement.  That has bought him some time.  I think you will start to realize that the leanancy that Pax has been given will be reduced as expectations have increased.

Personally, I think KW is the best because he is the only one on that list that managed to bring a title to the city and was able to do it by taking some risks that a lot of GMS wouldnt have done.

KW has to be given the nod for the ring.

Paxson did more in a short time that anyone else though to be fair.

How much does this kill Whiffle-dick that they both work for JR ??

The Cubs were dead before Hendry...The Cubs hadn’t made the playoffs since 1998 before Hendry took over, and Hendry has been tas closer to the World Series than Paxson has been to the Eastern Conference Finals…

The White Sox have the only World Series title in this city in 100 years…

Jerry Angelo took over the worst managed NFL franchise in recent history and had them in a Superbowl last year…

Paxson gets cut slack...and this quote

a dead franchise and made it into something people are proud of

says it all...there is no championship standard for Pax like there is for the other guys...not one call for Ben Wallace as a bust...not one call for being the only “contender” in the east to do nothing to make his team better this year…

Krause made a mess, and Paxson gets credit for being the perfect janitor...but cleaning Krause’s mess isn’t enough....how much time before Paxson gets held to the same standard as the others?

Not saying you’re wrong Madhouse, just saying what the perception is. But, I think we all know the honeymoon ended the second the Kobe derby started. “If not him, then who?” will be the battle cry now. In some ways Pax is a victim of his own success.

Ed, how come Kenny gets lauded for taking risks that other GM’s wouldn’t, and Paxson gets lauded for not taking risks?

All he did was use the high draft picks he had, and fleece Isiah Thomas and the Knicks...where’s the “big” career defining move by Paxson?  If this teams continues to play this lateral way like they do, the next Bulls GM will be the one who gets credit for their next championship…

Or a victim of his own inaction.

Pau Gasol, Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant.

We should have had one of them by now.

Actually many people look at KW as a lose cannon and really dont give him as much credit as he deserves.  And taking risks only works if they pan out.  The David Wells trade is looked at a bust.  He is the same guy that traded a total of 5 minor leaguers to trade for Karl Everett twice in back to back years.  The only reason KW is given the benefit of the doubt is becasue of the title.  Before the title, he was on the verge of being ran out of town.

He did use high picks and fleeced the Knicks.  However, the picks he made were shrewd.  Not a lot of GMs can say that they do that.  A lot go reaching on upside and not known.  Look at Kraus for example.  Paxson has done a great job of getting us out of the mess that was left behind and making us a year in year out playoff team should be commended.  And like I siad, I think the level on what we consider acceptable should be moved.  And I really think it is.

I wouldn’t exactly call Paxson’s draft choices shrewd...2004 produced some of the weakest drafts ever…

Kirk Hinrich was taken #7 in 2003 (the last best player available, and forced to take a PG because of Jay Williams’ motorcycle) p.s. - Paxson also didn’t pull the trigger on a trade to move up and take Dwayne Wade...p.s. - Dallas’ All-Star Josh Howard was taken #29.

in 2004 He took Gordon #3 and Deng #7
in 2005 he had no first round pick, because he traded it the year before for Deng.
in 2006 he took LeMarcus Aldridge and traded him for Tyrus Thomas
in 2007 he too Joakim Noah

Name me one of these guys you wouldn’t trade right now?  None of them are All-Stars, and it will be awhile before they become one.

How the hell is Kenny Williams getting the most wiggle room when he has a Championship Ring and the other don’t and people are still calling for his head???  Those voting for Kenny explain yourselves!

Look at who was taken directly behind these people.  Of the guys taken by Paxson, who would you say that we should have taken over the guys we did?  Yes, Howard in hind sight is an obvious choice, but 22 others passed on him.  And the thing with trading up is that the team you are trading with needs to want to make a deal also.  Who would have been a willing trade partner for Pax to get Wade?  Wasnt going to go 1,2, or 3.  Obviously ^ wasnt going to trade and I am pretty sure that Toronto wouldnt want to either.  Its a lot easier to say then do sometimes.

I am confused as to exactly what this poll is asking.

I am sure that I am not alone.

The poll is asking, who receives the least amount of pressure from his fan-base...sorry I can’t edit it...admins, is it possible?
