I give Orlando Hudson credit for admitting the loss was his fault. Peavy gives up one earned run in nine innings and takes the loss. That is not saying much for the White Sox offense.

Who would have thought it would be June 19th before a No.5 starter for the Cubs would win a game? Wood has pitched well in his last four starts. He had allowed one earned run in 7 innings against the Giants, in one of those four starts, but the Giants shut out the Cubs 2-0 in that game. Wood has been a huge upgrade over Chris Volstad and now wish Wood had been the No.5 starter all season.

Can’t believe the Padres would brag about minor leaguers going 0-3. Makes me wonder what they will say if one of their players REALLY has a good game.

Peavy’s three losses this season have been by two 1-0 scores and a 2-1 score. Peavy has allowed 3 earned runs in 25 innings in his three losses.

Randy Wells will be well rested after only pitching 2 innings since June 8 when he takes the mound against Gavin Floyd tonight. Sox hitters will have to be patient with Wells, since he has 16 walks and only 11 strikeouts this season, so should be able to work a walk, if they use some plate discipline.

Floyd is 11th on the Sox in ERA, but Danks and Humber are 12th and 15th respectively, with Humber having the highest ERA on the Sox at 6.01. Starting with his May 16th start against the Angels, Floyd has allowed 7, 9, 5, 5, 4 and 5 runs in his last six starts. He has allowed 35 runs and 49 hits in his last 30 innings. Floyd has allowed 15 home runs, which is 3rd most in the AL this season.

Sox are 6-11 for the month of June and Sale with 2 wins and Quintana and Humber, with one win each have the only other wins by Sox starters in June. Sox were 18-11 in May.

Sox won 14 of 15 from May 17- June 1. Since then they have lost 11 of their last 16 games.

Am I missing something? Why have the Sox returned to a 6 man rotation? Why start Sale and Peavy every sixth day, when the other starters have ERA’s between 5.63 and 6.01? See Stewart is slated to start against Minnesota on the 25th of this month. The Sox need a win in the worst way tonight, since Humber is starting against Greinke this weekend. You never know with baseball though, Humber might even pitch another perfect game.

In Peavy’s 3 losses he has given up a total of 3 earned runs. The offense hates him and wants him to suffer, that much is clear.

The Cnb$ front office is a hell of a lot better than the KW freak show.

And oh yeah, JF/BP’s contract. Anyone paying attention?

Empty seats. Huge contracts. A team on the nosedive.

Coop better start teaching that breaking ball stuff a hell of a lot better. Or it is going to get far far worse.

Offense did support him in his two worst games, when he allowed 6 and 7 earned runs.

Sox beat Cleveland 14-7 when he allowed 7 earned runs.

Sox lost to Detroit in his 6 earned runs game, but scored 8 runs in a 10-8 loss.

Bill made a good point about Peavy giving up only 3 runs in his losses, because the Sox scored a total of one run in those losses.

It is a conspiracy.

The White Sox hate JF/BP.

Jake Peavy rhp
3 years/$52M (2010-2012), plus 2013 club option

3 years/$52M (2010-12), plus 2013 club option
signed extension with San Diego 12/12/07
10:$15M, 11:$16M, 12:$17M, 13:$22M club option ($4M buyout)
full no-trade clause for 2010, may block trades to 14 clubs in 2011 and 8 clubs in 2012
award bonuses: $0.1M for WS MVP; $0.1M each for MVP or Cy Young ($50,000 for 2nd, $25,000 for 3rd); $50,000 for All Star starter; $25,000 for All Star selection; $50,000 each for LCS MVP, Gold Glove

I can’t see the Sox paying Peavy $22 million in 2013, when they could save $18 million by not signing him and just pay him the $4 million buyout.

Sox attendance is down 1,910 fans per game in 2012, while Cubs attendance is up 2,836 fans per game.

JF/BP is pitching just well enough to get traded to any team dumb enough to take on his contract.

With Peavy there is always the risk of injury. For instance, if he plays for $22 million in 2013 and gets injured a team would have paid $22 million for a benchwarmer.

The Sox already got nothing out of JF/BP for two seasons prior.

Peavy has been 23-16 since joining Sox in 2009. Padres paid him $11 million in 2009, not sure how much was earned while with Sox. Will say it was $3 million earned while with Sox that year, then he earned $15 million, $16 million and 17 million in the last three years. That totals about $51 million earned with Sox for 23 wins so far, which is costing the Sox $2 million a win.
