It was funny yet sad, when Rangers broadcaster Dave Barnett was describing the action, then suddenly started talking about a botched robbery and henchmen. Don’t mean to make fun of Barnett, since he apparently has problems with migraines. It was just weird for him to be talking about the game one minute, then talking like a runner was going to fifth base.

I sign every autograph I can for kids because I remember myself at that age. I think it’s ridiculous that some guys won’t sign for a kid.

The same thing happened to that lady broadcaster in San Diego. It must be something in the water in San Diego.

I think Harry Caray may have had some times, when what he was saying made no sense, like the time he said a ball was out of the park, when it actually hit the bottom of the fence.

No, Harry was just drunk. That’s different.

You mean Harry was actually drunk sometimes in the broadcast booth? The same Harry Caray I lstened to in the 60’s on KMOX?

Not sometimes, all the time. It was part of “his charm.”

I think he was speaking in tongues and sending subliminal messages to the army of darkness.

It is sad to know my favorite announcer was a common drunk. He was no Vin Scully. I am sure Vin Scully probably openly rooted for the Dodgers at some point in his career, but I can’t remember it happening.

Didn’t the fans buy him lots of beer I remember when he would do the games from the bleachers there would always be 20 beers on his broadcasting table?

Oh yeah, there’d be 20 or 30 beers near him at all times.

Bet nobody ever caught him with another brand of beer other than Budweiser.
