It was good to see Dayan Viciedo break his slump last night. Gordon Beckham is hitting .306 in his last ten games and has hit safely in 8 of his last 9 games. He had 5 HR’s and 14 RBI on May 31, but has hit 4 HR’s and drove in 18 runs in the first 23 days of June.
Mike Fiers starts today for the Brewers against Jose Quintana. Fiers has won two 7 inning starts, allowing one run both times. He lost his other two starts giving up 4 runs in each of those starts. Quintana has not allowed more than 2 runs to score in any of his 5 starts. Axelrod didn’t pitch that well last night. He was fortunate he was pitching last night, since the Sox had scored 5 runs total over the previous 4 games.
