My concern for Rizzo is that they bring him up and plug him into the 3 hole like they did LaHair. With no legitimate threats behind him pitchers will throw down and away, just like they do for LaHair and this kid will be batting .160 in August. If they move LaHair to four and him to five, or visa versa, then the kid will have a chance.Bill, See what you mean with LaHair 3-17 in the last 7 days and hitless in 6 of his last 10 games. He hit .393 in April, .253 in May and .226 in June. LaHair has hit only 3 HR’s since May 15 and only one since June 7, so that confirms that he is being pitched around.
Gordon Beckham is hitting .249 now and is hitting .342 in his last ten games. I just noticed he only played 59 games in the minors, so he has been learning in the big show. All his percentage numbers have improved from one month to the next this season. He hit .153 in April, hit .261 in May and .299 in June.
I think Robin Ventura moving up Beckham in the batting order, played a part in his resurgence this season.
So much for Beckham hitting near the top of the lineup:
Nobody to protect Beckham now. Hope he still keeps hittting anyway.
