While getting a slurpee, I noticed that they had “special” cups at 7-11 celebrating various events in NCAA basketball history. Now, all of the players on the cups have left the school (I would hope, the latest one was 2003.) Is there some sort of statute of limitations on how long the NCAA “owns” the rights to players? Can the NCAA run ads from Michael Jordan when he was in college? You’d think that since they’re out of school that the contract to use the players would no longer be in effect.

Does this make any sense? Or is this just typical nonsense by the NCAA?

The NCAA claims that any kid on a scholarship or who benefited from an athletic program automatically cedes any rights in their name, image or likeness. Others disagree. That is why this has been in court for the last couple of years.

Oh, fuck that. The NCAA is a bunch of corrupt money-grubbing F***tard. I hope they all die in a fire.
