Nope, just getting ready for the WBC so he can play for Team Israel.
Third baseman Kevin Youkilis confirmed he has been approached to play for Team Israel in the 2013 World Baseball Classic, and he said he would consider it if the team wins a qualifying tournament in November.
Youkilis enjoyed playing for the United States in the 2009 WBC with Jake Peavy, Matt Thornton and Adam Dunn, but realizes he could have another option.
“(The 2009 WBC) was very cool, but it also would be cool to have another challenge in life,” Youkilis said.
Youkilis said his left ankle benefited from Thursday’s day off and that enabled him to return to the lineup Friday. He suffered a sprain Wednesday.
Israel actually has a lively, if odd, baseball league.
