And US GK Hope Solo is back to her bitchy self, starting trouble and a tweet war with US Olympic soccer legend Brandi Chastain (aka the woman who ripped off her jersey and flexed.) Chastain was critical about aspects of the game and Solo reacted like a proper diva. Hope Solo’s always been a bitch, even dating back to the last Olympics. And she seems to get by because she’s pretty. I just shake my head.
Speaking as a former goalie and goalie coach, she as every right to be a bitch and a bit of a diva. The position is a bit like CB in football mentality wise, that and those who willingly stand in front fast moving objects are wired differently. In this case she was defending her teammates from what she considered undo criticism. Is the whole thing a bit rabbit earsy? Probably, but she is one of, if not, the best at what she does. So sit down, shut up and don’t watch if she annoys you so.
I happen to like Solo and she’s right, the game has changed over the last coupe of years. Add in the fact that she’s defending her teammates I see no downside for her position.
