I figured the Cubs would keep Garza, Samardzija & Malholm and then live with rookies in the 4th and 5th slots.

Kinda confused here.

The Cnb$ did keep Alphabet Boy and Garza.

And Malhom was probably only dealt to shut up Atlanta. That clusterfuck begins and ends with Ryan Dempster agreeing and later stalling a deal with Atlanta.

That F***tard was shelled in his first start with Texas. Hopefully there will be more of that to come. Looks quite good in a contract year. Fucking idiot.

And one last question.

Which will happen first?

A. A great special teams player/kick returner successfully being converted into a pro bowl (LOL) caliber wide receiver?

OR

B. A college wide receiver successfully being converted into a starting pitcher?

Only in Chicago. All true. Look it up on Google.

I’ll start with the last part first, I choose “B.”

As to Garza, the Cubs have made no secret of the fact they want to trade him. Had he not been injured they had his bags packed. And the more I’m hearing about his injury from my people at Clark & Addison the more I’m thinking he’s done for the season. So it’s like he was traded now and instead will just be traded later. As to the rest, I’m assuming you’re still laughing at Demspter getting shelled since Malholm’s debut with the Braves went pretty good even though he lost.

Corrected.

Atlanta out. Texas in.

As for Garza, if the right deal came along, yeah he would be traded. Moot point now that he is out for the season.

This just in.... Tony Campana has cleared waivers and is traded to the Dodgers for a towel to be named later.

I’m a day late on this one but this season has really changed my mind about the Cubs.

Although I’m a Sox fan, I have always supported the Cubs and rooted for them whenever they’ve reached the playoffs.  If the Cubs win, it’s good for Chicago.  Plus a lot of my best friends are long-suffering Cubs fans.

But this year has opened my eyes.  They’ve dismantled the team yet 37,000 still show up every game.  I’ve never heard fans show more patience and hope towards a management team in Chicago, “Give them until 2014.  Then you’ll see.” I mean Ricketts’ hiring of Theo bought him 2 years of being horrible and probably 1-2 years of just being competitive before fans will expect anything from the team, if ever.  They’re advertising their celebrity 7th-inning stretch singers and you know what?  It’s going to work.  Out of 37,000 people who show up every game, maybe 10,000 actually care about the game and the other 27,000 care about “the experience,” which includes celebrity 7th-inning stretch singers.

Roman, I’ve posted the link a few times but SI reported last year that 37% of all Cubs fans are actually tourists who know little or nothing about the team.  A good example up of Cubs fans could be found yesterday when, on the train, I saw a group and asked them if they were excited about Rizzo. One guy looked at me and shrugged and said “We don’t really like Italian food.”

I just walked away.

37% Cubs Fans > 100% White Sox Fans at the home park!

Yesterday, I saw a group of hobos wearing tattered old White Sox shirts and hats. They were all hovering around a roadside ditch poking a dead possum with a stick and wondering if it was edible. I asked them if they were excited about Konerko. This really old guy with a wispy beard looked at me and shrugged, “I don’t what the fuck you called that thing, but we’re going to eat it anyway”.

I just walked away.
