Pete loves his fans. Really he does. But only after he charges them $50.00 for a fucking autograph. And with Pete - cash is king. No checks, no credit cards and not a goddamn word to the IRS.
Pete Rose would never have broke the lifetime record for hits, if he wasn’t the manager. People who claim that he should be in the HOF, tend to overlook that. And how did Pete show his gratitude, being allowed play beyond his usefulness? He bet on baseball....as an active player and manager....what a scumbag!
Rose reminds me of Yellow Kid Wile. Once asked why he robbed banks, he said “Cuz that’s where the money is.” No apologies, no remorse, just what is is what is and fuck you for everything else.

Correct. The Dowd Report (which is a good read), stated that they there was indications that he betted as a player. I believe the Dowd investigation was only looking into Rose’s bets as a manager.
I like Rose as a player, but he should remain banned. He would have been in the HOF if he hadn’t hung around for the last 3 or 4 years and this would be a moot point.
“The banishment for life of Pete Rose from baseball is the sad end of a sorry episode. One of the game’s greatest players has engaged in a variety of acts which have stained the game, and he must now live with the consequences of those acts. By choosing not to come to a hearing before me, and by choosing not to proffer any testimony or evidence contrary to the evidence and information contained in the report of the Special Counsel to the Commissioner, Mr. Rose has accepted baseball’s ultimate sanction, lifetime ineligibility.”
Statement by then Commissioner
of Baseball, A. Bartlett Giamatti,
August 24, 1989
In my personal opinion I think he should be let into the Hall of Fame.... after he is dead. He was banned from baseball for life. Once his life is over, let him in. Sounds fair doesnt it?

Perfect!
Pete Rose would volunteer to drop dead right now if he believed he could make an extra nickel.
Sadly enough I don’t doubt the fact that he would do something like that. If that didn’t work, I could also see him and an army of a million Oompa Loompas laying siege to Bud Selig and his army of evil baseball historians. This epic battle that will be fought on the battlefield of Cooperstown, NY will be the battle of all battles. The battle for the right to make it into the Hall of Fame. Roses army of Oompa Loompas advance on Cooperstown but the all powerful magician Peter Gammons was able to push back this onslaught. Unfortunately, during the siege, Rose was trampled to death by his army of little men as he was bending over to pick up what he thought was a three legged buffalo nickel. Turned out is was only a Canadian nickel. Darn Canadians got him once again. His army gathers his remains and place it on a shield and light it ablaze. The shield is pushed onto the mighty Mohawk where it burns thus releasing Roses spirit so it can forever join its fellow greats in the sacred halls of fame. Ironic isn’t it.
