I was reading the Tribune’s Fred Mitchell’s piece on Kyle Orton , when I came across the following paragraph:
This time last year, Orton was preparing to compete with Rex Grossman for the starting job. Unless the Bears sign an established veteran quarterback, Orton will have more opportunities to mesh with his receivers in practice this season with Grossman gone .
“Huh?!?,” I said. I didn’t recall any announcement of his departure. I check this forum, nothing about Grossman except him being Orton’s backup. “What???”
So I then meandered over to F*SPN and checked the Bears’ Roster . No number 8.
How’d we miss this...or is it just me?

Grossman doesn’t have a contract.

He’s an unrestricted free agent, but I don’t recall there being any discussion on the subject here. Neither can I find any.

Upon request of Jerry Angelo, Robert Irsay moved Grossman out during the middle of the night in an unmarked van. My guess is he’s somewhere in Canada and will be playing for the CFL.

Nope. He’s chained naked to a wall in the MDF’s bunker.

Jerry Jones will sign him and he will become the greatest QB in Dallas Cowboy history.
Nobody can replace Danny White. QB and Punter. He should have been paid twice.

Rex will catch on in Detroit where he and Daunte Culpepper will wage an epic training camp battle for the starting QB gig with the winner leading a surprising Detroit team to a 10-6 record and an NFC North title.

IMO - Dallas.
They need a backup.
And R[-]omo is due for a benching.

Nope, got a raw deal just like Tom Tupa. Jets? Late 90’s? No?
Yeah, I reached way into obscurity for that one.
