Well now, not my first choice...or second or third for that matter but it is what it is.

What don’t you like about the choice?
He would have been the #2 choice last year…

Stephen A. Smith is ranting and raving about this being the wrong choice...the Bulls are a playoff team...how many playoff teams really address need in the draft?  Remember Stacey King, Granville Waiters, and Brad Sellers???  There is no way that Spencer Hawes helps in the next two years...he’s big and slow, and the second coming of Luc Longley...the only difference is that Longley had Jordan.

So what if he would have been the second pick last year?  Someone had to.  It has no bearing on this year.  It is a good pick, don’t get me wrong.  I don’t despise it, but like I said it wasn’t my first choice (Al Horford..unrealistic I know), second choice (Hawe...sorry big body who can post is what we need) or third pick (trade for Randolph).  Its not a bad pick.  I am just not excited one way or the other with it.

Noah as the first round pick sucks. And F***tard will rant and rave with pure metrosexual adoration over this kid’s pimp outfit for draft day. The blowup doll may now have competition.

My guess: Tinky knocks his basketball ability while clothing his comments in homoerotic terms.  Blames the choice on Reinsdorf, not Paxson.

You were close Fred, Jay talks about clothing, uses homoerotic terms, but insists Paxon is dim, for not getting Kobe....

Through a window, Noah noticed some younger women going down an escalator. He didn’t know them, but he waved anyway. Not surprisingly, they waved back. Maybe they liked his outfit. ‘’You know, I’m going to be me,’’ he said. ‘’I think the bow tie definitely was a great look. I think the suit was really, really funky. I said it was going to be funky. I’ve gotten a lot of love so far for the suit. I’m just happy, man. - F***tard

Yeah, believe it or not but this type of bullshit was actually printed in the SPORTS section of the F***tard-Times.

And does anyone here really think F***tard was in New York (check the dateline). The headline should have read “Gay Sex in the City”.

Fire the F***tard.

If the Lakers tire of Kobe’s diva act and eventually trade him, I would hope Paxson falls out of love and chases him passionately. - F***tard

I spent five hours at the Gay Pride Parade on Sunday and no one there was this effeminate.

Well, I’m not sure what the Bulls were thinking with Noah, but hey - welcome to the club. He definitely doesn’t seem like the type where he’ll be raping girls in Colorado like Kobe. We’ll see how it goes.

So your hoping he is hte type that rapes girls in COlorado?  I know what you meant, just sounded weird.

Noah is a Paxson type guy.  He tends to go for more known quanities that are low bust low ceiling guys from big programs that know how to win.  That is Noah to a T.  He wont be flashy but he will be a good energy guy.  You have to realize that we are a playoff team not picking for a need.  This is a luxery.  In all honesty, we should be around 23 I think so this is a gift.  If Pax thinks he was the best player on the board, then I have faith in him.  He has done a wonderful job so far and I dont see a reason to start questioning his judgement yet.

Gosh IlliniEd! I am not able to use the English language to my advantage!

I don’t doubt Paxson because he’s done a hell of a job. If he said Noah’s the man, then he is. Noah seems like the type that would stay in most nights and play Xbox and not get into trouble. Paxson picks guys who have won big. It’s a good mentality to have. I guess we’ll find out in 6 months how well he’s handling being a Bull.

Ed, I agree!  For whatever reasons, Noah isn’t a popular pick amongst people, but I tend to like the pick, because to date Paxson hasn’t made a bad draft pick.  This team is built on defense, speed, and athleticism.  That’s why they ran Miami off the floor.  The reason they got beat by Detroit is because they played liked women the first two games, and in game six, everyone was afraid to take a shot.  Is Spencer Hawes going to solve that?  I highly doubt it.

This was a luxury pick.  Last year they get Tyrus Thomas (who is actually contrary to a Paxson pick because he was not a known quantity and had a high ceiling to be a bust).  I think Paxson takes the best players available, and that’s why you get Noah.  He’s 7 feet, athletic, and blocks shots.  He’ll learn from one of the best hustle guys in the NBA in Ben Wallace.  He was the number nine pick in a draft that had 3-4 impact players at best.  Name me one player taken after Noah that you would rather have?

Hell, Boston (who needs to rebuild) didn’t keep the number 5 pick, and Charlotte didn’t keep the number 8 pick.

The reality is that the Bulls need help from someone already inside the NBA.  Honestly, would Spencer Hawes had made a difference in the Detroit series?  Nope.  He’s the caucasian version of Eddy Curry...can score, but doesn’t defend or rebound.

Plus, Noah is another asset in a possible trade for a star veteran.  I don’t mind the pick at all.

My only problem with the “champions win championships” mentality is that Taurean Green and Jack Berry were on that team too and no one ran to draft them. Hell, the way their backcourt played I am not convinced that Noah was the best guy on his team, forget about in the draft. But, as has been pointed out, Skiles and Paxon are building the team thier way and haivng success. So, I’ll shut up and see how things are looking next April.

I really dont think that Boston and Charlette trading isnt an idication of the depth of hte draft.  Boston traded because they needed a proven player to keep Pierce happy.  Not sure if it was the right move in all honesty.  Charlette has a bunch of young players and needed a veteran to help solidy the roles of hte youngens.  Richardson wouldnt have been my shoice but to each their own.  I seee your point about Hawes.  Slowly starting to turn on him.  What is the point in having a post guy for the sake of having a post guy unless he is actually good.

Noah isnt a flashy pick.  He will being energy and he might be used to get a veteran down the road.  We are a team predicated on athleticism.  Here is the one thing I thought about Hawes though, I know flip flop in own argument, but we really only need him to score a little.  We dont need a lot of rebounding out of him when we have ball hawks like Wallace and Tyrus that will go after the ball.  If he could get 15 points a game and maybe 7 boards I would be happy.  We get rebounds from other people.

Once agian though, you are right.  There really isnt anyone drafted after Noah that I would relaly care for.  We can get away with not as much low post precence if we make a concerted effort to get to the rim which is something we didnt do as much verse the pistons.  If Deng drives and scores or Ben or Kirk can get in the paint we can create easier points.  We just have to get out of hte mentality that it is jump shot or nothing.
