Now Tinky is in love with Soriano, making him almost supernatural.  No more crying about the $136 million.  Really though, it’s just an excuse to rag on Barry Bonds again.  For those with limited time, don’t waste it by reading the entire column.

Oh, I don’t know. The stuff about “The Summer of Love” (which happened in 1967 and led to one of the worst series of deaths and injuries due to homelessness in the history of the US) was fun. And, hey, he got in a Michael Moore reference (very hip and liberal) and ..... oh, fuck it. It’s a piece of trash.

Illini Ed, don’t hold your breath waiting for that column to come.  I predict the Brewers will win the series before that happens.  Wait, make that the Cubs.  Better yet, the Sox.  You catch my drift…

Is there any reason other than to continue to mock him, for even reading his “column”? It is the same rehashed shit over and over. I hate him and refuse to read it. That is what the SunTimes would respond to, nobody reading them anymore. Any subscriber cancelling their subscription due to his continued presence in their paper. It is a pipe dream, much like him moving to Boise, but if we could band together a bunch of subscribers........that may have them thinking at least. He is the worst and it isn’t even close for second.

Actually, their subscriptions have been plummeting. And, given the fact that the paper now closely resembles The Sun in the UK (minus the page 3 girls), it is clear that they are hoping for a dramatic increase the number of knuckle dragging morons within the City limits. That is the only reason I can think of for their continued support of F***tard and the latest series of front page stories on any subject.

Has anyone tried to get Daley to get rid of this F***tard?  I’m sure F***tard qualifies as a public nuisance.  Maybe a petition or something to Daley could pressure the Shit Time’s to get rid of him.  Firing the F***tard has gotta be worth a least a million votes!

His “clever” use of pop references is really a pile too. Does he think people enjoy these references? Or how he has to name everything....City of Weak Shoulders, Blizzard, etc. I look for the day when he sees one of his offend parties outside of Jay’s protected circle and gets his gay ass kicked. I can’t even listen to him on that Around the Horn steaming heap ......have you ever heard him the way he says Toe-ny. He sounds like Grace Kelly in Dial M for Murder.

Hey guys.

New post up. I have to admit I skipped Jay’s column today. I can take a column by Jay, and I can take reading about Bonds. But a combination of the two? That’s just more than I can deal with in the morning.

The post is just some thoughts on the Cubs and Sox and on the arc of baseball seasons in general. The question I have is this:

(A three parter)

A: What is the Cubs record at the end of the season?

B: Where do they finish?

C: How does it end?

By the way, Bill, good call on the Sun-Times. It’s always been slightly more tabloid-y than the Tribune, but ever since they redesigned it barely even qualifies as a newspaper anymore. Which is a shame, because they have some excellent writers there outside of certain people. But now you would never know it.

How much longer before reputable journalists such as Rick Telander and Roger Ebert jump off the F***tard-Times ship?

Thanks Matt. I am actually at the point in thinking they should hire the guy who does Pearls Before Swine and let him have at it. There is no way he could do worse, and his strips use bigger words, and contain headier concepts, than anything found on those covers.

That being said, I have no clue how the Cubs are going to do this year.

I am going to stick by my inital prediction of sub 500.  I think to much is being placed on this stretch that they are one. THey have won something like 8 of 9 or something like that just ot bring their record up to 500.  At some point they will cool off and their bats wont hit as well and they will slump.  That is how this team is built to play.  WE have seen it before with previous Cubs teams.  Stretchs of good play and timely hitting and then nothing for a week or so.  They are a score 10 or score 1 type team.  All or nothing.

I’m going with 89 wins. It will be a lot of good and bad as we go but the team is at least solid and Lou has the guys playing like they should. Unfortunately I think 89 wins gets them only second. I can’t really believe that Milwaukee could outlast them. I’m hoping for ‘03 magic with deadline deals that turn it around!! Hey I’m a Cub fan, what do you expect?

All those blown games by the bullpen in April and May could come back to haunt them.  The pessimist in me says 87 wins and in second place, 4 games behind the Brewers.  The optimist in me as 87 wins and in first place, .5 games ahead of the Brewers with Big Z hitting a walk off pinch hit home run in the bottom of the 15th inning of the last game to get them in (hey it could happen!).

Anyone have a MDF vodoo doll?
